In response to NRC report #930838, OSC L Sims was deployed to Cartersville, GA to the incident involving the release of approximately 4,000 gallons of 50% solution sodium hydroxide from a railroad tank car at the Chemical Products Corporation(CPC). According to the report, around 0430 hours a hose ruptured while unloading the tank car. According to CPC, some of the product may have entered a drain pipe that empties to the Etowah River. Sampling of the river is being conducted by CPC. Results related to that sampling effort are unknown at this time.
