Current Activities

During this reporting period approximately 8 gals of oil and 525 gals of contaminated water were retrieved.  The new updated totals are now as of February 28, 2009: 4,507 gals of oil and 51,698 gals of contaminated water retrieved.

ERM performed the fourth semi-annual performance sampling of soils at the Facility in the area of the bioventing system on 24 and 25 February, 09.
Borings were completed to the water table, at a depth of 30 feet below grade. Soils were screened with a flame ionization detector (FID) for the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to determine the most impacted interval. Samples were collected from the intervals
representing worst case conditions. All samples were submitted to Phase Separation Science, Inc. for analysis of TPH-GRO and DRO, both via EPA
method 8015B. A total of 9 field samples plus an equipment blank and duplicate sample were submitted for analysis.

No problems were encountered during this reporting period.

Next Steps

A full scale fluid recovery event will be conducted during the month at Sumps C and D, as these sumps had a detectable thickness of free
product during the prior month’s monitoring that measured .03 feet thick. Subsequent measurement of product in Sumps A, B, C or D and large rain events occurring during the month will also receive scrutiny for additional full scale extraction events.
