Former agricultural facility in Haralson, GA has apparently experiences spills around chemical storage areas. GA EPD issued a notice of violations to the property owner who began to remove drums from the property. EPA mobilized both START and ERRS contractors to inventory, assess, and stabilize containers of hazardous materials on site.

ER transferred drums and containers from Building 1 (Fertilizer Shed) and Building 2 (dilapidated wooden structure immediately to the east).
A total of 75 drums (55-gallon and 30-gallon) were transferred to Building 7 (bag/seed area), which is more secure and includes a concrete floor. In addition, bagged materials (STA-GREEN insecticide) from Building 2 were overpacked into six 55-gallon drums and transferred to Building 7.
Drums and containers from Building 3 (Cotton Gin), including numerous automotive lead-acid batteries, were also transferred to Building 7. These items will be inventoried tomorrow along with an accurate count of smaller containers (5-gallon and smaller) that have been moved to Building 7.
Collected 1 soil sample as summarized below:
S-04: composite soil sample from floor area in Building 1 where several drums labeled ‘Tox M Parathion’ were formerly stored.
