Current Activities

The following actions took place during the period of record:

Work began March 15 for this period of record.  The PRP hired a pressure washing company, Carl's Mobile Pressure Washing, to pressure wash the drip pad a containment area in order to remove the built up CCA covering the cement.  They began with the drip pad.  Initial results showed that the pressure washing was not very effective in removing the CCA from the concrete.  At this point the PRP decided to switch the sand blasting.

Sand blasting proved to be a better alternative than the pressure washing, but was still not removing all CCA from the concrete.  In addition, the sand blasting produced extra waste in the form of contaminated sand.  Another decision was made to rent a concrete miller to grind off the top layer of the concrete.  This proved to be the best method for effectively removing the CCA from the concrete.  Members of Carl's Mobile Pressure Washing continued to mill the concrete for the rest of the week finishing the drip pad on March 20.  Also during the week of March 15, decontamination of the solution tank and pressure vessel were completed.

CBM re-mobilized to the site March 129 to pump out the water in the containment area that had collected as a result of the sand blasting and milling.  They were also tasked to conduct the sampling of the concrete.  Sampling was completed on March 30 and no further work was planned for the week.

Planned Removal Actions

The samples from the concrete have been sent off for TCLP analysis.  The PRP will await the results of the sampling before proceeding any further with concrete removal and soil sampling.  The PRP has also hired a welder to come in and scrap the solution tank.
