Site Description

The Site is a former scrap metal facility located in a mix of industrial and residential areas partially bordered by wetlands and a tributary to Chesapeake Bay.  The Site is contaminated with numerous hazardous substances, with the foremost being polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and lead.

Current Activities

While the Site is moving through the NPL process, it is expected that the Remedial Program will continue to monitor and surveil the Site to determine if migration of contamination and the immediate threat of significant release presents an unreasonable risk.  If the threat of  significant release is observed, an immediate action may be taken to further stabilize or remediate the Site.

Planned Removal Actions

None presently planned: however, if the threat of significant release is observed, an immediate action may be taken to further stabilize or remediate the Site.

Next Steps

Monitor and surveil the Site while the NPL process continues.

Key Issues

Monitor Site to verify security measures continue in-place and that no erosion, which may lead to significant release of hazardous substances, is occurring.
