Current Activities

October 26 through October 30, ERRS continued decontaminating, removing, and loading scrap steel, removing brick debris from the northwest corner of the Site, stock piling asbestos-containing waste material (ACWM), and removing the oil layer from the 40,000 gallon subsurface vault.  The exterior, insulated pipe in the Courtyard was wrapped with visqueen to prevent accidental release of asbestos prior to cutting and removing the pipe from the exterior wall of the building.

On October 30, ERRS began loading ACWM for off-site disposal.  A total of thirty-one (31) truck loads of ACWM were loaded for off site disposal at Evergreen Landfill in Wood County, Ohio.

November 2 through November 6, ERRS continued loading ACWM for off-site disposal and continued loading and transporting scrap steel for recycling.  Began removal of surface debris from the perimeter sidewalk area.

Activities performed by START from October 26 through November 6 included: written and photographic documentation of Site activities and conditions; observing ERRS on site removal activities, the collection of perimeter air samples for asbestos analysis, and the collection of perimeter dust monitoring readings.

Planned Removal Actions

Continue removal of scrap steel from the Site. Continue segregating, stockpiling and loading ACWM for transportation off site for disposal.

Removal of residual ACWM debris and impacted soil from within the ACWM area for final clearance sampling.

Removal of deteriorated roofing material from the eastern most portion of the site building.

Arrange for disposal of drummed material off site.

Disposal of liquid from the 40,000 gallon subsurface vault

Key Issues
