2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
From November 15 until November 20, 2010
- Three 20,000 gallon frac tanks arrived on-site. One is outside of the containment area of tank 51 and will be used to store the stormwater that has pooled in that area. The remaining two are being used to store clean and used product to restore tank 51.
- A centrifuge arrived on-site as a precaution if solids need to be removed.
- WSP (ESI's insurance company's contractor) and Weston START collected samples for waste characterization of storm water in the tank 51 containment (ESI-Contain51-111610) and the oily water in the Tank 43 and 44 containment (ESI-Contain4344-111610). Both samples are being analyzed for VOCs, TCLP Metals, SVOCs, PCBs, Reactivity, Flammability and pH. AIMM (WSP Sub-contractor) pumped about 4,000 gallons of storm water out of the tank 51 containment into the storm water frac tank.
- WSP received 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel to be used as the rinse material. AIMM off loaded it into the frac tanks within the tank 51 containment.
- WSP attended Pike County Homeowner’s Association meeting, provide an update of their activities and answered questions regarding their planned activities.
- An emergency contact list for security personnel was made if something were to arise during the holiday weekend.
- AIMM (WSP sub-contractor) completed final setup of the hydraulic cannon and camera and wrapped all connections in sorbent pads to contain and identify any leaks.
- AIMM (WSP sub-contractor) begins washing tank 51.
- The first wash will not be counted as one the six that make up a rinse. It will be used to work out any further kinks and adjustments.
- ER was on-site to check the pump from the storm sewer, which leads to frac tanks 7, 8, 9 and 10.
- The connections to frac tanks 8 and 9 have been closed due to capacity.
