The AST (estimated at 20,000-gallons) uncovered near the northeastern corner of the site was de-sludged and removed from the saltcake pile. Approximately 900-gallons of oil/water was transfered out of the tanke. The tank was cut and staged for decontamination and will be scrapped for metal recycling. Approximately 24 cubic yards of sludge removed from the tank heel/bottom will be land-farmed on site. Analytical test identified the tank as holding No. 4 fuel oil with a mix of No. 6 that separated out over years of non-use.
The northern and southern diversion trenches continue to be grade adjusted for flow to the southern “toe” of the site where the drainage will converge with the leachate outfall. Rip-rap continues to be produced on-site from structural concrete from the former Main Building. Additionally, the crown of the site is being graded in a 10:1 slope that will minimize contaminant run-off.
Scrap tires and scrap steel/iron continue to be collected and disposed.
Continue grade and drainage construction and installation of rip-rap. Solicit for bid on clay, topsoil, and mixed-grass seed.
Weather has begun to affect scheduled work.
Disposal consisted of several phases which included: 1-) Segregation of scrap iron and sheet metal from the demolition of the main building and off-site shipment for metal recycling. 2-) Disposal of the non-recoverable rubble/demolition debris. 3-) Scrap tire disposal. 4-) Fuel oil recovered from a 27,000 gallon UST unearthed during site grading. 5-) Off-site shipment of aluminum smelter waste to evaluate for possible aluminum recovery.
