During this reporting period, EPA, ERRS, START, and USCG/GST, continued to open and sample the contents of the abandoned drums and containers on site. Over 900 samples have been collected. These samples were sent to the lab for analysis. In turn, 15 waste streams were identified, of those, 12 are hazardous.
The bulking of wastes has begun and several hundred drums have been bulked into like waste steams. All free liquids have been bulked into like waste groups and ERRS is currently removing the sludges left in the drums. Three sludge boxes full of non-hazardous sludge have been removed thus far.
During this period, a sampling plan was devised and carried out. The analysis associated with the samples is currently being reviewed.
EPA has attended two monthly meetings and provided updates to the citizens group: Oakdale Community Development Program.
