2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
On January 30, 2012, Midwest hauled off 3 loads (17,600 gal) of oily water from the solidification pits and manway SS-18 to United Waste Water Inc.’s facility in Cincinnati, OH.
- Midwest continued cleaning frac tank 5.
- Midwest helped Trihydro with site stormwater management.
- Midwest swept silt accumulating in the northeast area off of the pavement.
- Midwest continued to move water accumulating in the east million-gallon bunker tank into the west million-gallon bunker tank.
- EQ continued pumping Tank 51 liquid contents into solidification boxes and mixing it with paper pulp and lime solidification media.
- EQ received (3) 50,000 pound loads of wood pulp solidification media from Appleton Papers, Inc. in Dayton, OH.
- EQ repositioned their sludge pump within Tank 51.
- EQ cut a 5’x5’ hole in the west side of Tank 51.
- Trihydro discharged approximately 18,000 gal of northeast area stormwater treated by the GAC system to Oil Creek.
On January 31, 2012, Midwest continued cleaning frac tank 5.
- Midwest helped Trihydro with site stormwater management.
- Midwest continued to move water accumulating in the east bunker tank into the west bunker tank.
- Midwest made repairs to the safety fence surrounding the bunker tanks.
- Midwest purchased hay bales and new silt fencing to help control the accumulation of silt in the northeast area stormsewer and paved areas.
- EQ continued pumping Tank 51 liquid contents into solidification boxes and mixing it with paper pulp solidification media.
- EQ hauled off (5) 20 cyd roll-off boxes of solidified sludge to Southside Landfill in Indianapolis, IN.
- Trihydro discharged 16,576 gal of northeast area stormwater treated by the GAC system to Oil Creek.
On February 1, 2012, Midwest helped Trihydro with site stormwater management.
- Midwest set up hay bales and silt fencing to help control the accumulation of silt in the northeast area stormsewer and paved areas.
- Midwest decontaminated equipment.
- Midwest started a work stand down. They will return when the PRP Group makes decisions regarding the bunker tanks.
- EQ continued pumping Tank 51 liquid contents into solidification boxes and mixing it with paper pulp solidification media.
- EQ hauled off (3) 20 cyd roll-off boxes of solidified sludge to Southside Landfill in Indianapolis, IN.
- EQ’s sludge pump broke down.
- EQ reported that there is around 2.5’ of sludge near the pump, a large area around 3’, and some areas up to 6’ near some walls.
- Trihydro discharged 17,104 gal of northeast area stormwater treated by the GAC system to Oil Creek.
- Trihydro requested visual inspection of frac tank 5. No product was visible in frac tank 5, and the condition was documented with photos.
On February 2, 2012, Trihydro discharged 10,000 gal of northeast area stormwater treated by the GAC system to Oil Creek.
- Midwest was not on site.
- EQ’s sludge pump remained inoperable.
- EQ had a pump repairman on site. The repairman was not able to repair the pump, and a new part or pump will be ready for Monday, February 6, 2012.
- Trihydro discharged approximately 10,000 gal of northeast area stormwater treated by the GAC system to Oil Creek.
The wood pulp and sawdust solidification materials are reclaimed/recycled products. As of February 3, 2012, approximately 14,250,000 pounds of wood pulp solidification media, 1,800 tons of sawdust solidification media have been used to solidify sludge. Additionally, 880 tons of lime solidification media and 45 tons of TerraBond solidification media had been used to solidify waste sludge.
