2.1.2 Response Actions to Date 

    On April 18, 2012, Trihydro discharged 13,400 gallons of GAC system treated northeast area stormwater to Oil Creek.
    • Trihydro collected the weekly GAC discharge samples.
    • AVS continued jetting northeast area storm sewers.
    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area and started removing scrap aluminum and insulation from Tank 51.
    • US EPA and the PRP Group confirmed a community meeting at 1000 on April 26, 2012 at ESI.

    On April 19, 2012, Trihydro discharged approximately 24,000 gallons of GAC system treated northeast area stormwater to Oil Creek.

    • Trihydro hauled off 2 loads (10,700 gal) of jetting water/sludge from the solidification pits to United Waste Water Inc.’s facility in Cincinnati, OH.
    • AVS completed jetting northeast area storm sewers.
    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area and continued removing scrap aluminum and insulation from Tank 51.
    • TM Salvage mobilized a manlift.

    On April 20, 2012, Trihydro discharged approximately 5,000 gallons of GAC system treated northeast area stormwater to Oil Creek.

    • Trihydro hauled off 2 loads (10,700 gal) of jetting water/sludge from the solidification pits to United Waste Water Inc.’s facility in Cincinnati, OH.
    • AVS deconned a vac truck.
    • AVS pumped stormwater into Tank 7 and Tank 6.
    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area and continued removing scrap aluminum and insulation from Tank 51.

    On April 23, 2012, 1” of rain fell over the weekend.

    • Trihydro discharged approximately 35,000 gallons of GAC system treated northeast area stormwater to Oil Creek.
    • AVS began setting up to decon Tank 7, however they encountered equipment problems that prevented starting.
    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area and continued removing scrap aluminum and insulation from Tank 51.
    • High winds caused Tank 51 insulation to blow into the fence and parking lot south of Tank 51.

    On April 24, 2012, Trihydro discharged approximately 35,000 gallons of GAC system treated northeast area stormwater to Oil Creek.

    • Trihydro hauled off 2 loads (10,400 gal) of jetting water/sludge from the solidification pits to United Waste Water Inc.’s facility in Cincinnati, OH.
    • AVS completed decontaminating Tank 7.
    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area.
    • TM Salvage completed removing scrap aluminum and insulation from Tank 51.
    • TM Salvage crews began picking up insulation from Tank 51.

    On April 25, 2012, Trihydro discharged approximately 9,000 gallons of GAC system treated northeast area stormwater to Oil Creek.

    • Trihydro hauled off 2 loads (10,400 gal) of jetting water/sludge from the solidification pits to United Waste Water Inc.’s facility in Cincinnati, OH.
    • AVS hauled off (2) 25 cyd vac boxes of unsolidified jetting sludge to Southside Landfill in Indianapolis, IN.
    • AVS completed decontaminating Tank 6.
    • AVS began decontaminating the solidification pits.
    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area.
    • TM Salvage crews continued picking up insulation from Tank 51.

    On April 26, 2012, US EPA OSC Verneta Simon; PRP Group representatives Steve Fleming and Vicki Wright; Trihydro representatives Gary Risse and Tim Gunn; START representative Jay Rauh; City of Indianapolis representatives Jennifer Schick, Sue Michael, and Mark Warner; District 1 City-County Councilor Jose Evans; Citizen’s Energy Group representative Cheryl Carlson; Medallion Capital representative Dean Pickerell; and Pike Township Resident’s Association representatives Susan Blair, Tim Lord, and Ed Locke participated in a community meeting and site walk.

    • TM Salvage collected stockpiled scrap in the northeast area.
    • TM Salvage crews continued picking up insulation from Tank 51.
    The wood pulp and sawdust solidification materials are reclaimed/recycled products.  As of April 26, 2012, approximately 15,250,000 pounds of wood pulp solidification media and 1,800 tons of sawdust solidification media have been used to solidify sludge.  Additionally, 880 tons of lime solidification media and 45 tons of TerraBond solidification media have been used to solidify waste sludge.
