- On September 18, 2002, the last of the 1,120 cylinders were destroyed and disposed of. During this disposal phase, a total of 10, 719 lbs of good stannic chloride and 542 lbs of poor quality stannic chloride was recovered and repackaged into DOT approved cylinders. The stannic chloride will be given to Reagens, USA, and they will pay to transport it to their facilities in Texas. Site activity at plant 2 has finished.
- Commencing the week of September 23, 2002, ERRS moved operations to Plant 1 and started identifying electrical, water, steam, and product lines found in the middle process plan. Reagens USA has moved the majority of tanks from this area, and the area is clear for the dismantling of the production lines. Starting the week of October 7. 2002, ERRS contractor began dismantling the lines using an excavator with shear attachment. The metal is being segregated into steel and stainless steel and will be purchased by a metal recycler.
- ERRS has mobilized a chemist to the site and he will be in charge of developing a bulking plan for the laboratory chemicals.
- ERRS continued with managing the collection of stormwater at the Site. Heavy rains caused by tropical storm Isidore required for removal of water from the above ground storage tank. During the period of 9/18-20, a total of 253,152 gallons of stormwater was removed and transported to a waste water facility.
