Current Activities

During the reporting period, activities at 1234 Loflin Hill Road included the completion of placement of backfill and topsoil, final grading and replacement of driveway with crush and run.  A private landscaping company, A Cut Above, seeded and fertilized the yard. To date, 87 loads of contaminated soil have been loaded out at 1234 Loflin Hill Road; 375 loads of backfill and 217 loads of topsoil have been placed on the property.  This yard has been completed and residents ended their temporary relocation on November 17, 2004.
Activities at 1241 Loflin Hill Road included the completion of placement of backfill and topsoil, final grading and replacement of driveway with crush and run.  A private landscaping company, A Cut Above, seeded and fertilized the yard. To date, 36 loads of contaminated soil have been loaded out at 1241 Loflin Hill Road; 120 loads of backfill and 52 loads of topsoil have been placed on the property.  This yard has been completed and residents ended their temporary relocation on November 18, 2004.


Planned Removal Actions

The Removal Action at the 5 affected residences will involve a combination of excavation and capping with a barrier of clean soil of up to 2 feet and restoration.  Residents will be relocated while activities are conducted at their residence.


Next Steps

The next property will be 1145 Loflin Hill Road, Lot 6.  Removal activities at Lot 6 will begin on November 30, 2004; residents are expected to begin temporary relocation by December 2, 2004.


Key Issues

Site work has been shut down for the week of November 22, 2004.  Site personnel will mobilize back to the site on November 29, with work starting back on November 30.
1145 Loflin Hill Road, Lot 6 must be completed by December 17, 2004 so that residents will be back in their home by the week of Christmas.
