During the reporting period, activities at 1265 Loflin Hill Road included continuation of excavation and hang digging around vegetation. ERRS received 5 loads of crush-n-run and created an area in the front of the property so that trucks would not block traffic on Loflin Hill Road during load out. To date, 33 trucks of contaminated soil have been sent off site to the Uwharrie Environmental Landfill in Mt. Gilead, NC.

The Removal Action at the 7* affected residences will involve a combination of excavation and capping with a barrier of clean soil of up to 2 feet and restoration. Residents will be relocated while activities are conducted at their residence.
*Results of the August 2004 sampling event identified two more properties will arsenic levels above the Removal Action Level of 40 ppm.

Excavation will continue at 1265 Loflin Hill Road, followed by backfill and seeding.
Due to weather conditions, some of the most recent areas seeded may have to be re-evaluated.
The three remaining residences are being prioritized to determine the order in which they will be addressed.

No work took place on January 14, 2005 due to heavy rains the night prior.
Rain and cold weather make it hard for the grass on the restored properties to grow; this will be a problem for all properties throughout the removal.
