2.1.1 Narrative
June 29 - July 2, 2015
SWPPP controls and BMPs were inspected on-site prior to work
each day. Shaping of the impoundment was completed. Flat concrete remaining in
the Mill area was broken up and placed on the impoundment. Approximately 5,000 cubic
yards (cyds) of contaminated material were excavated from the Mill Area and
placed on the impoundment. Approximately 30 cyds of contaminated material were
excavated east of the ‘cedar tree’ area and placed on the impoundment. Approximately
8,000 cyds of ecological barrier material was excavated and placed on the
impoundment. Two air samples were collected during removal activities. The samples were analyzed for lead using NIOSH Method 7300. Sample results for the samples collected the week of June 22 were received, all samples were below the detection limit.
July 6 - 10, 2015
SWPPP controls and BMPs were inspected on-site prior to work each day. Approximately 5,000 cyds of ecological barrier were excavated and placed on the impoundment. Approximately 5,800 cyds of cover material was excavated and placed on the impoundment. Thickness of the ecological barrier and cover soils has been guided by grade stakes. Approximately 300 cyds of fill were excavated and placed east of Goldfield Mine Road to return the area to previous grade. Due to equipment breakdowns, work stopped on July 9 and resumed on July 10, 2015. Two air samples were collected during removal activities on July 8. The samples were analyzed for lead using NIOSH Method 7300. Sample results for the samples collected the week of June 29 were received, all samples were below the detection limit.
