1. Current Situation
U.S. EPA contractors continue to inventory, stage, sample and haz-cat drums. Small containers continue to be consolidated and lab packed for disposal and drums and vats continue to be rinsed prior to disposal. Vats and aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) and associted piping are being inspected and drained of all materials. This reporting period, a total of 86 drums and 9,233 gallons of waste paint and flammable liquids were sent off site for disposal at Petro-Chem Processing, Inc.
Progress to date: Drums inventoried - 3334 Drums sampled - 3234 Drums hazcatted - 3155 Small container collection/lab-packed - 5166 Vats/Totes/Tanks inventoried/sampled - 27 Vats/Totes/Tanks hazcatted - 24
2. Removal Activities to Date
During the week of March 21 to March 26, 2005, EPA, ERRS and START continued inventorying and sampling of drums in both the Warehouse and Manufacturing Buildings. ERRS continued staging, haz-catting and consolidating drums of material for disposal. Small containers continued to be consolidated and lap packed into 85 gallon drums for disposal. Empty drums and vats were rinsed in preparation for disposal. Three ATSs and one ball mill tumbler were sampled and then drained generating 29 drums of material. A total of 82 drums and 8,931 gallons of flammable paint related wastes were transported to Petro-Chem Processing for disposal.
|
• Inventory, stage, sample, hazcat and dispose of all 55-gallon drums and small containers. • Sample, drain, rinse and render unusable all AST's, tanks, vats, totes and process vessels. • Rinse and dispose of all empty drums. • Excavate contaminated soils. • Transport all wastes off site to a CERCLA compliant facility.
|
• Continue to rinse and dispose of all empty drums. • Continue sampling and profiling of consolidated drums. • Consolidate all small containers. • Lab pack all materials from laboratory. • Collect soil samples from suspected impacted areas.
