Site Description

See Initial POLREP dated 12/8/2004.

Current Activities

From April 5, through April 22, 2005, the Emergency Rapid Response Service (ERRS) contractor continued with the excavation of lead-contaminated areas at the site.  Approximately 85% of the site has been excavated.  An X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) unit was used to confirm the limits of excavation.  The Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) continues to collect samples to be analyzed by the lab to support the XRF readings.  On-site treatment of the excavated soils also occurred during this reporting period.  Samples of the treated soil were taken and analyzed to verify that the soil met the appropriate treatment standards.  Treated soil was sent to a CERCLA compliant landfill on April 18 and 19, 2005.

Planned Removal Actions

Continue excavating of contaminated soils and on-site treatment.  Treated soils will be disposed off-site at an appropriate landfill.

Next Steps

Backfill and hydroseed excavated area once excavation and treatment activities are complete.
