Site Description

This site is a former pesticide formulation and packaging facility, and was the subject of corrective action by USEPA in 1982.  Deterioration of the containment cap has raised concerns over potential health impacts from  chlorinated pesticides.

Contamination of surrounding properties was addressed by previous TCEQ actions.

Current Activities

EPA, TCEQ and URS personnel met with City of Mission officals to discuss planned activities, strategies and project coordination.  Following that meeting, the assessment team mobed to the site to begin a detailed site walk, accompanied by the site owner and a Congressional Aide.

Planned Removal Actions

As appropriate following assessment

Next Steps

Complete the site walk tomorrow, debrief and demobe.

Develop a work plan to conduct the site assessment, including surface, subsurface and the buildings.

Key Issues

Coordination with City of Mission and TCEQ

Involvement of citizen groups and other key stakeholders

Expansion of assessment beyond the original capped area to the entire site
