This site is a former pesticide formulation and packaging facility, and was the subject of corrective action by USEPA in 1982. Deterioration of the containment cap has raised concerns over potential health impacts from chlorinated pesticides.
Contamination of surrounding properties was addressed by previous TCEQ actions.
|
The Team completed the site walk, debriefed and demobed.
The buildings are on concrete slab, requiring a GeoProbe / drill to penetrate and obtain samples beneath.
Cap deterioriation was noted in several locations.
There was a significant odor noted in the vicinity of the Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs), which seemed to increase through the day with the temperature.
|
As appropriate following assessment
|
Develop a detailed work plan to conduct the site assessment, including surface, subsurface and buildings
URS to secure support to move heavy equipment and vehicles inside buildings, and to provide man-lift for access to the top of the Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs) and the main building ceilings for sampling
|
Coordination with City of Mission and TCEQ
Involvement of citizen groups and other key stakeholders
Expansion of assessment beyond the original capped area to the entire site
Significant odors from the vicinity of the ASTs
