2. Current Activities
  2.1 Operations Section
   

2.1.1 Narrative
Restoration operations are complete in BRSA 9 and near completeion in BRSAs 6, 7 & 8. Demobilization activities continue.

2.1.2 Response Actions During Reporting Period

BRSA 6
- Continued restoration of construction entrance & staging area.

BRSA 7
- Completed restoration of riverbanks with seed, straw and native trees/plants; and 
- Continued re-grading and restoration of former command center and staging area.

BRSA 8
- Completed stabilization of access road; and
- Completed restoration of riverbanks with seed, straw and native trees/plants.

OVERALL SITE
- Continued operation & maintenance of surface water run-off and erosion control measures;
- Continued irrigation of native plants/grasses in all completed BRSAs (see photo); and
- Continued restoration activities (grading, contouring, seeding, straw, planting) of area at former dam location.

2.2.1 Anticipated Activities
During the next reporting period, the following activities are expected to occur:

BRSA 6
- Complete restoration of former staging area and entrance off of 19th Street.

BRSA 7
- Complete restoration of former command center and staging area.

SITEWIDE
- Continue operation of irrigation system in all restored areas;
- Complete restoration of entrance and public access area at former auxiliary spillway; and
- Complete demobilization of heavy equipment and crews.

2.2.1.2 Administrative Activities / Next Steps

- A revised Post Removal Site Control Plan, which includes monitoring and maintenance plans for the restored areas along the river, was submitted by Wood Group on July 30. It incorporates input and comments provided. The plan is currently under review by US EPA, START, MDEQ and MDNR, and is anticipated to be approved for implementation in August.
- US EPA anticipates providing the PRPs with a 'substantial completion' letter in August.

2.5.1 Safety Officer

A safety meeting is held prior to work start each day by on-site safety officer(s) from Envirocon & Wood Group. Site surveillance continues during weekends to discourage trespassing into work areas and restored riverbank areas. The main purpose of the surveillance patrols is public safety.

2.5.2 Liaison Officer
- A tour was held for local elected officials and executives from MDNR, MDEQ, US EPA on July 24 (see photos). The tour was attended by representative from the press and several articles resulted.
- Additional tours with agency executives, elected officials, and non-profit organizations are anticipated over the next month as the project is near completion.

2.5.3 Information Officer
- A final community meeting is planned on Thursday, September 13 at 6:00pm at the Otsego City Hall.  A flyer announcing the meeting will be distributed door to door the week of August 6.
- An updated Fact Sheet is being finalized and will be distributed prior to the meeting.
