Current Activities

11/25/02 (1 HSA, 1 Foss, 2 G.L.Palm, 2 River’s Edge)
Two truck loads (30 yards per load) of Mill Pond tailings hauled to East Wenatchee landfill.  Second truck/pup trailer in shop for repairs.  Foss and HSA working on dismantling grizzly on coarse ore bin.  Vac truck working on removal of DW from conditioner tank and other areas in comminution/flotaiton level of Mill building.  Vac truck progress slowed because material is partially cemented.  Frozen condensation in air lines also slowed progress.  Conference call held between EPA, PRP, HSA, and START to discuss progress, proposed changes to Work Plan, and schedule.

11/26/02 (1 HSA, 2 Foss, 2 G.L.Palm, 2 Big Sky Industrial, Inc.)
Two truck loads of Mill Pond tailings hauled to East Wenatchee landfill.  Second truck/pup trailer in shop for repairs.  Foss still dismantling grizzly at coarse ore bin.  Excavator to remove material from coarse ore bin delivered to site.  River’s Edge Vac truck crew departed site.  New Vac truck and crew (Big Sky Industrial, Inc., Spokane, WA) on site.  Vac truck removing DW from pump/thickener level of Mill building.

11/27/02 (1 HSA, 2 Foss, 2 G.L.Palm, 2 Big Sky Industrial, Inc.)
Two truck loads of Mill Pond tailings hauled to East Wenatchee landfill.  Second truck/pup trailer in shop for repairs. Foss still dismantling grizzly at coarse ore bin.  Dismantling progress slowed by heavily reinforced construction of grizzly.  Vac truck removing DW from pump/thickener level of Mill building.

11/28/02 – 12/1/02 Thanksgiving holiday.  No work on site.

Planned Removal Actions

Continue with removal efforts in the Mill facility and Mill Pond.

Next Steps

- Continue Vac truck operations in pump/thickener level, followed by return to comminution/flotation level and upper levels.
- After structural modifications of coarse ore bin are completed, ore will be removed with excavator and staged at the existing on-site ore stockpile area in accordance with agreement achieved during 11/25/02 conference call.
- Oversize material and other material that Vac truck cannot remove efficiently to be removed manually by G.L.Palm personnel.
- START prepare Site-Specific Sampling Plan for confirmation sampling.

Key Issues

- Slow progress resolving coarse ore bin removal difficulties.
- Delay of Demolition Work Plan.
- Resolution of scheduling for completion of decontamination and initiation of confirmation sampling and demolition activities.
