Enviroserv (under contract to the property owner) completed Phase I removal activities on 3/16/05, and completed Phase II removal activities on 8/25/05.
7/19/05 On-site scoping meeting attended by OSC Benson, START, RWQCB P, Peuron, Enviroserv RM, and SCS C. Pryatel. Phase II sampling data and proposed excavation area maps were reviewed. Minor modifications to the originally proposed excavation areas and building material removal locations were approved. The scope of Phase II operations were fully outlined and Phase II mobilization was scheduled for the following day.
7/20/05-8/4/05 Phase II removal operations including: - Break up and removal of deteriorating concrete floors and secondary containment structures in the plating building, and stockpiling the material for later removal. - Removal of pre-designated contaminated building materials and patch/repair as needed. - Six inches to one foot of soil beneath the concrete is removed, and areas of contaminated soil up to a depth of five feet below ground surface are excavated. - Contaminated soil from the front of a house on an adjoining property. - The START performs oversight of all removal activities.
8/5/05 With START oversight, SCS (PRP consultant) collected samples at the bottom of the excavations to document post-excavation soil conditions.
8/9/05-8/10/05 Enviroserv installed a layer of Geofab® lining in the bottom of the excavated pits, and backfilled the pits with clean fill material. Several loads of excavated soil and concrete debris were shipped offsite under proper manifest.
8/11/05 OSC Benson inspects the site and determines that the Phase II cleanup is being performed satisfactorily.
8/24/05-8/25/05 The remaining stockpiled waste soil and debris were shipped offsite under proper manifest. Phase II removal waste included about 330 tons of contaminated plating debris, concrete and soil. All Phase II wastes were transported to the U.S. Ecology facility in Beatty, Nevada under an approved profile.
