On October 12, 2005, FOSC met with USACE project management and CORs at USACE offices in Baltimore. Project scheduling and issuance of contract documents to contractor was discussed. FOSC discussed the need to prioritize this action and therefore issuance of delivery order and other contractor initiation documents be completed as soon as possible.
On October 19, 2005, FOSC met with START contractor personnel to discuss field soil sampling plan and air sampling plan. Soil sampling plan to govern pits and other grids for charachterization of nitro aromatics and heavy metals. Info will be forwarded to MDE and developer to assist with followup soil remediation work.
Site security continues to be maintained thru USACE Inter Agency Agreement (IAG). Prime contractor, INFOPRO Inc. continues to oversee its site security sub to prevent unauthorized access.
On October 28, 2005 prospective property owner and its environmental contractor (ERM Inc.) performed a site walk thru for future geophysical survey (EM-61). ERM will perform this assessment outside the 55 acre firehole site, which this removal will address. Specifically, the tree line, creek banks and other surrounding property will be surveyed by ERM. It is not known when the actual survey will occur.
It is anticipated that site mobilization will occur towards the end of November or early December, 2005.
Community relations strategy and overall public notification of this pending action to be developed.
