Site Description

This site in Mission, TX is a former pesticide formulation and packaging facility, and was the subject of corrective action by USEPA in 1982.  Deterioration of the containment cap has raised concerns over potential health impacts from exposure to chlorinated pesticides.

Contamination of surrounding properties was addressed by previous TCEQ actions.

Current Activities

Fencing of the affected areas of the site is complete as of February 24, 2006.

Planned Removal Actions

Periodic monitoring to verify effectiveness and continued integrity of the fencing and patching.

Next Steps

Complete the Action Memo for the fencing and patching activities.

Complete the Administrative Record for this action.

Key Issues

Site access is now restricted by fencing.  This will prevent trespass and potential direct exposure to the public.

Patching and fencing will control cap deterioration until removal.
