Current Activities

During this reporting period the Responsible Party's contractor, ERM Inc., continued weekly oil extraction activities.   The total liquids extracted thru 04/28 includes 25,873 gals of contaminated water and 3,649 gals of fuel oil.  Weekly extraction events will continue. This month collection appears to indicate a small jump in the volume of fuel recovered, probably due to recent rains. Recovered diesel continues to be transferred to a permitted AST at the Fogle's facility for disposal.  Following each extraction event, the contaminated water was passed thru a series of carbon filter units to a 500 gal holding tank.  Water was than discharged to stream as per NPDES permit.  A sample of this efluent was retrieved on 04/10/06 and tested for benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, total xylenes, methyl tert-butyl ether and tert-butyl alcohol as per the site's NPDES permit.  Results revealed 3ug/l for MTBE only. The effluent was resampled on after the carbon filter units were flushed and reconfigured so as to increase the water residence time in the system.  Results came back as non detect.

Due to recent rains, two small areas of potential hydrocarbon surfacing and migration were observed during this reporting period.  One area is downgradient of Sump A and the other is upstream of outfal 001.  Both areas registered small stains and or hydrocarbon sheening.  ERM will continue to monitor these locations.

ERM and Fogle's personnel will continue to inspect and replace sorbents in the creek as part of the required work under this AOC.

Planned Removal Actions
