The 127 TELEGRAPH ROAD SITE, aka."ACE DRUM" located in Chickasaw, Alabama was used to house a wide assortment of Industrial grade paints, solvents and other unknowns.
Hundreds of 1 and 5 gallon buckets of paint and other volatile materials and numerous drums of waste oil are improperly store, leaking their flammable contents due to exposure to the elements, and physical deterioration of their metal and plastic containers.
Analytical results derived form the Removal Assessment revealed the presence of elevated levels of organics, including: Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes and Isopropylbenzene. These listed substances pose a significant threat to public health and the environment.

During this reporting period, ERRS has stabilizede all leaking containers and drums. ERRS crews continue to clear the Site of vegetation and solid waste in an effort to locate all concealed hazardous materials. In addition, ERRS is also involved with the extraction, consolidation, characterization and containerization of all hazardous materials located on site.
ERRS crews have enmassed approximately 24 ea.cu/yd. boxes of flammable paint material, 10-12 drums of waste oil, and other flammable liquids. Once all hazardous materials on-site have been accounted for, these materials will be profiled for disposal at an appropriate disposal facility to be determined bid.

Once all identified hazardous materials have been located and characterized, ERRS will profile and dispose of all waste materials at an appropriate waste disposal facility.

START has been tasked to prepare a soil contamination Sampling Plan. Once the Site is completely cleared and all hazardous materials accounted for, it is expected that this Plan will guide EPA and START with the screening and collection of surface and sub-surface soil samples.
