|
The 127 TELEGRAPH ROAD SITE, aka."ACE DRUM" located in Chickasaw, Alabama was used to house a wide assortment of Industrial grade paints, solvents and other unknowns.
Hundreds of 1 and 5 gallon buckets of paint and other volatile materials and numerous drums of waste oil are improperly store, leaking their flammable contents due to exposure to the elements, and physical deterioration of their metal and plastic containers.
Analytical results derived form the Removal Assessment revealed the presence of elevated levels of organics, including: Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes and Isopropylbenzene. These listed substances pose a significant threat to public health and the environment.

ERRS crews have completed the recovery, characterization, bulking,over-packing, packaging and proper staging of all hazardous materials located on the site.
Under the direction of the OSC, test trenches were dug in an effort to screen soils for volatiles and determine if buried waste existed. No volatiles or buried wastes were apparent.
ERRS PM has prepared and distributed the RFB for waste disposal.
OSC briefed and toured the Site with the ADEM, Emergency Response Coordinator.
ERRS crews have cleaned their equipment, secured the Site and have demobilized from the Site

Once a compliant disposal bid is accepted, ERRS crews will return and load out all packaged waste. This material will then be disposed of at a CERCLA off-site approved disposal facility (TBD).
Soil samples analysis will be evaluated and contaminetd soils will be removed by ERRS.

START has prepared a soil sampling plan that will include the collection of composite surface and sub-surface soil samples. CLP analysis will include volatiles and semi-volatiles, metals, pesticides, and PCB's.
Also, once available, an XRF soil screening instrument will be used to screen additional soil samples for the presence of metals.
