Site Description

Work Mission Statement:

Safely and efficiently investigate and remove Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC); Materials Potentially Possessing an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH), Munitions Debris (MD) and explosively contaminated soil(TNT) from the Elkton Farms Firehole Site, as defined in EPA's geophysical study.

Current Activities

During this reporting there was no onsite removal activity.

Site security was taken over by a Region III ERRs contractor thru a security subcontractor.  Security is being maintained on a 24hour basis.

On November 9, 2006 the FOSC and MDE entertained Region III ERRs contractors for Task Order competition and site walk thru.  The meeting lasted two hours and all questions were answered by the FOSC.  All proposals are due December 14, 2006.  The FOSC will review proposals and select the ERRs contractor with the best proposal.  Work is anticipated to restart in early 2007.  The Task Order will include the separation and staging of MEC and ACM.  The Task Order will be issued to cover a time frame of at least six months.
