The Barker Chemical Company Site is located on approximately 300 acres lying north of the Withlacoochee River, south of County Road 40, west of U.S. Highway 19, which is considered the Garden Court Mall (GCM) area. The remainder of the site, which was discovered during the 2005 sampling investigation, is located east of U.S. Hwy 19 and north of County Road 40, which is called the Former Inglis Road (FIR), east of Inglis city limits in Levy County, Florida.

OSC and START on-scene to conduct contractor oversite and community outreach. Since activities commenced 05-JUL-06, contaminated soil at 16 properties and 10 Right of ways have been completed to date 19-DEC-06.
Excavated soils are stockpiled and treated with enviro-blend before disposal. Treated soil is analyzed for TCLP metals before disposal. Off-site disposal for the 16 properties and 10 Right Of Ways (ROW) are complete. 10,570.9 tons of contaminated soil has been treated and shipped off-site to date.
START is on-site assisting with oversite and operation of the x-ray fluorescence for field analysis of soils. The XRF is being used to assist with extent of excavation determinations.
Properties are restored upon completion of the clean-up with either Sod, hydro seeding or compost, depending type of property or location of excavation on property.
START is conducting a final removal assessment and oversite to address the remaining areas of contamination. The last property to address is the stock pile area, in which there is an esitmated 4,000 tons of soil that will be excavated, treated and disposed of.

ERRS to continue contaminated soil excavation as properties are identified.
EPA to continue oversite of excavation activities and to meet with concerned homeowners and city officials.
USACOE to continue relocation and reimbursement activities as needed.

There is one property without an access agreement in place. The OSC has met with FDEP to work with them on obtaining access to conduct a removal on the property. Upon receiving access for this property, 2 additional ROWs will be address.
