Site Description

University of North Texas houses a research lab on the north end of Denton, for their engineering program.  The campus is housed in an old Texas Instruments complex, with one large building and several out buildings.

The campus sits on approximately 30 acres, with the buildings in the middle of the campus.

The residential area where the odors were reported is to the east of the campus.  The winds at the time of the report were from the west.

Current Activities

Phone duty received anonymous notification on Sunday, March 4, of a potential release from the University of North Texas Research Lab in Denton, TX.

Caller complained of a "acid" smell in the air, which caused burning of the eyes and lungs.

OSC was dispatched to the area to investigate.  A driving survey of the area did not reveal any unusual odors.

Additionally, the guard on-scene of the facility had been on duty all day and had not noticed any odors.  Discussions with personnel in the facility also turned up negative.
