Site Description

Site History:  NRC#832-981: Abandoned Drum, Atlanta, Fulton County, GA.    During an Earth Day Community Clean-up on 04/21/07 (Saturday),  an abandoned drum with unknown-unidentified product was discovered in the Pittsburgh Community [near 988 Coleman Street] and reported to the National Response Center.  OSC Russell was dispatched and mobilized resources to remove/dispose of the drum.  Contents tentatively identified as a caustic solution.  Due to the proximity of the drum to local children and its potential for leaking, a cleanup contractor was tasked to remove the drum.

Current Activities

ERRS Contractor Kemron was hired.  OSC and ERRS personnel removed the abandoned drum from the Site.  ERRS retained the drum and took it to their TSD.  Upon analytical results, the drum will be properly disposed of.

Planned Removal Actions

The abandoned drum has already been removed.

Next Steps

Disposal will take place after analytical results are received.
