The Site is a former orchard area that has had residential development. Prior to an EPA ban in 1972, a variety of pesticides including lead-arsenates and DDT compounds were applied.
EPA conducted a removal action at one property at the Crozet Arsenic Site in Crozet, Virginia. Historical sampling indicated that additional properties may need removal work.
|
ERRS began clearing brush, installing silt fence and began fern prepping activities on May 7. Fern planting activities began on May 10; three grids were completed for week ending 5/11/07. Dr Blaylock with Edenspace was on-site to consult fern planting operations.
START collected one 9-point composite sample to be analyzed via XRF and laboratory analysis. The sample was from a fern planting grid above 100 ppm and shaded.
|
EPA will continue to meet with residents and answer any questions they may have.
EPA will begin removal actions in the Orchard Acres subdivision.
