Current Activities

The following activities occurred during this reporting period:

August 10:
A closure test was completed with the air conditioner running at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.  The highest concentration of mercury detected using the Lumex meter was 0.77ug/m3.  This method was approved via email from ATSDR on 8/10/2007 and followed up via letter on 8/17/2007.   ERRS then began to prepare home to allow residents to return.  It was determined that ERRS did not need to flush out the septic line.
ERRS, EPA, START, and Mr. James Lowe toured the inside of the residential property to identify areas that needed to be repaired.

August 11-15:
START demobed on August 11.  Mr. James Lowe was given letter that stated that residents could return to their home on August 14.  ERRS continued to prepare home to allow residents to return.  ERRS applied Murphy’s Oil to existing panels, wood, and cabinetry to remove paint and other stains. ERRS began installing insulation and panels that were gutted out from the two bedrooms.  ERRS also began installing panels that were damaged from the heat applied to the car porch area.

August 16:
At owners’ request, EPA, ERRS, and Mr. and Mrs. Lowe agreed that EPA will purchase supplies to allow Mr. Lowe to complete repairs on his own.  After supplies are purchased, EPA will no longer be required to complete repairs or purchase additional supplies for property.  All parties completed a second walkthrough of the house to identify supplies needed.  Mr. Lowe understands tools will not be supplied.

August 17:
EPA tested car seats to Mr. Lowe’s vehicle.  The seats passed.  The seats were then placed in the vehicle and the interior was tested.  The vehicle passed.
