Current Activities

On August 29, 2007, installation of sheetpiling continued along the M-26 side of the site property, after removing and backfilling a path through the concrete pad found on the southwest corner of the property.  A total of 28 panels were installed to complete the barrier wall on the west side of the property.  The west barrier wall consists of a total of 99 total panels.

From August 30, 2007 to September 14, 2007, a total of 147 vinyl sheetpile panels were installed on the north side of the ditch along Franklin Street.  Sheetpile panels were installed at varying depths down to 15 feet below ground surface (bgs) using 16 foot panels, with the exception of the side of a site building, where depths down to 17 feet bgs were achieved using 18 foot panels.  A total of 257 panels have been driven on-site.

On September 10, 2007, a drilling crew began installing 5 recovery wells and 6 monitoring wells on-site.

On September 18-19, 2007, the sheetpile wall barrier along the Franklin Street was completed.  A total of 182 panels were installed along the Franklin Street ditch, and 14 panels were inverted north onto the site property.

On September 19, 2007, the sheetpile wall barrier was completed and the last monitoring and recovery well were developed.

Planned Removal Actions

- Complete several rounds of shallow water monitoring from the monitoring wells to observe potential movement of contamination.

Next Steps

- Continue excavation and restoration of the remaining 220 feet of ditch from second gate entrance east along Franklin Street.

- Dispose of stockpiled non-hazardous waste materials.
