Current Activities

The following stats apply since remobilization occurred on April 24, 2007:
1. Total Grids Cleared Gov't QA: 46
2. Total digs (anomalies): 90,742
3. Total MEC found: 24,355 (MEC items include detonators, grenade fuze, blasting caps, tracer elements, incendiary bomblets, flares etc. etc.)
4. Total MD found: 3982lbs.
5. Scrap metal found: 1685lbs
6. Total Phase II processed soils: 8,048 cuft.

Specific grids that were worked and passed QA this reporting period included F5c,F5d,H1b,I1a,H4c,H4d

Phase II work continues in association with Phase I work.  Phase I is surface whereas Phase II is excavation and processing of soils thru the hydroaeration stations.  Approximately 8,048 cuft of phase II soils have been processed since Phase II work commenced on 9/18/07.  Work is slowed somewhat by vegetative matter removal from the screens.

Air monitoring for dust and paticulate consistently reveals levels less than the TWA standard established for the site by OSHA.  Air sampling for asbestos particulate has been completed on two separate sampling events.  Thus far no ACM has been detected.  Both events will continue thru the excavation process.

FOSC finalized Phase II Work Plan document which includes reevaluation of the ESS and HASP.  All site documents were updated.

The Action Memo governing activities in excess of six million dollars was approved by the EPA Assistant Administrator, OSWER on 9/24/07.

FOSC continues to conduct weekly meeting/conference call, which includes EPA, MDE, Start, GES, USA and RMC both field components and their offices.  FOSC continues to participate in biweekly conference calls with MDE, ORC and site assessment regarding site progress and site issues.
