Site Description

The Warrenton Oil Company caught fire at approximately 0530 hours on September 13, 2007.  The fire consumed a warehouse building and its contents, including various petroleum products.  The fire was extinguished at 1132 hours the same day.

Current Activities

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was onscene to assess the threat of a discharge to waters of the U.S. and to assist local and state officials in their efforts to extinguish the fire and protect human health and the environment.  Local hazardous materials teams performed air monitoring at the site.  City workers built containment off the site for run-off water.

On November 5, 2007, OSC Smith visited the site.  The containment damn constructed by the city had been removed and the area did not appear to be impacted by petroleum contaminated run-off.  The warehouse was being demolished at the time of the follow-up visit.
