Current Activities

As of February 5, 2008, 219 access agreements have been received. 187 of these are residential and 29 are commercial/industrial.  ERT has intalled sampling probes at 216 of these properties.  There is 1 property scheduled for  probe installation, one changed their mind after signing the access, and the other is pending scheduling.

Sub slab samples were collected at 212 properties from January 28 to date.  Of the 212 sub slab samples collected so far, 184 are residential properties and 29 are commercial/industrial.  There are 4 residential properties with probes installed but no sub slab sample collected yet due to scheduling conflicts with the home owner.

Of the 212 sub slab samples collected to date, 40 exceeded the screening level for TCE and/or PCE, established by the Minnesota Department of Health.  32 are residential and 8 are commercial/industrial.


Planned Removal Actions

The properties that exceeded the sub slab screening level are been search for products that might cause interference with the full column indoor air sample, at least 24 hours before the complete full column indoor air sampling begins.  These products are been placed outside the house.  For the commercial/industrial properties, where it might not be possible to remove these products, we will document it and collect the full column indoor air sample.

TAGA is been used to screen the properties before the placement of the SUMMA canisters for the 24 hours indoor air sampling.  Canisters are been placed at the basement and first floor of the property, and a SUMMA is also been used to repeat the sub slab sample.

Seven residential properties are schedule for TAGA screening and SUMMA placement today, 9 tomorrow, and the others are pending schedule.


Next Steps

Design and install vapor extraction systems at properties with indoor air exceedances, as needed.
