Current Activities

Greka's consultant, LFR, Inc. has provided EPA with Work Plans 2 and 3 in accordance with the Clean Water Act Order.  LFR also provided the second version of the confirmation sampling plan for the creek and other impacted areas.  EPA has made comments and submitted them to LFR and Greka.

On March 6, 2008, Greka began to remove the roll-off-bins containing cleanup waste off-site to Chemical Waste Management, Kettleman City, California for disposal.

EPA is currently reviewing their restoration plan.

Planned Removal Actions

1.  Removal of all waste
2.  Confirmation sampling
3.  Site restoration

Next Steps

1.  LFR must address the comments to the confirmation sampling plan and submit an updated plan to EPA and SBCoFD for approval.
2.  Continued removal of the roll-off-bins.
3.  Restoration of heavy equipment damage to land adjacent to the creek.

Key Issues

LFR will have one more chance to provide an acceptable sampling plan.  Failure to provide an acceptable sampling plan may result EPA directing Greka to get a new consultant.
