EPA’s ERRS contractor Guardian Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) has completed  reacting drums and sacks of lime mag Building #2 and from Building #8.  ERRS also completed reacting drum group 14 and 23 staged outside and marked as residual waste.  ERRS is now reacting drums staged in Building #9 marked as residual waste.  PADEP is providing technical and oversight support at the site.  EPA START contractor TechLaw is providing technical and administrative support to the EPA.  EPA and PADEP officials continue to control access to the site in addition to coordinating the activities of the various generators.

At 1145 a pile of material being removed from a drum on the slab north of the pit caught fire. ERRS controlled the fire that lasted about 4 minutes.  There were also fires in the pit and the material gave off gasses ERRS added water and stirred the pit as needed. 04/04/08
Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental, Inc held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities, areas of concern and safety issues associated with the day’s activities.   ERRS did not react material today because the material put in the pit on 4/03/08 has not completed reacting. The material put in the pit the previous day is still extremely hot and off gassing.  ERRS began sifting through the brick pile and removed metal and other debris from the bricks.

START assisted the EPA as needed and conducted written/photographic documentation.
