Site Description

The Site is a former orchard area that has had residential development.  Prior to an EPA ban in 1972, a variety of pesticides including lead-arsenates and DDT compounds were applied.

EPA conducted a removal action at one property at the Crozet Arsenic Site in Crozet, Virginia.  Historical sampling indicated that additional properties may need removal work.

To date, twelve properties have had removal work due to arsenic concentrations above 58 mg/kg.

Current Activities

EPA recieved and reviewed all analysis data from the soil and fern sampling.

A total of seven (7) plots have less than 58 mg/kg.  These plots require no more removal activities.  Each plot generally had arsenic concentrations lowered by at least 20-30 mg/kg.

EPA and ERRS mobilized to the Site on Nov 19th.

ERRS removed the landscape fabric form the 7 plots.

EPA met with the property owner to discuss future activities.

The site was cleared of any removal related debris and all personnel demobilized on Nov 20th.

Planned Removal Actions

All personnel will mobilize in the spring to continue removal actions onsite.
