Site Description

EPA is continuing emergency removal actions at this site during the repackaging, transportation, and removal of flammable magnesium materials.  Lavigne Manufacturing Inc is making plans to remove its material off site.  The EPA is making plans to repackage material to make it stable and accessible for the remainder of the generators who wish to remove their material.      

EPA’s ERRS repackaging the remainder of drums on site.  PADEP is providing technical and oversight support at the site.  EPA START contractor TechLaw is providing technical and administrative support to the EPA.  EPA and PADEP officials continue to control access to the site in addition to coordinating the activities of the various generators.

USEPA OSC Jack Downie and Marjorie Easton were on site for oversight of activities.  
Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental, Inc held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS continues to repackage drums of magnesium to be shipped off site at a later date.  ERRS repackaged 116 drums for the day.  

START assisted as needed and conducted written/photographic documentation.

Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental, Inc held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS continued repackaging material from non-DOT shippable drums into 55-gallon vented DOT shippable drums. ERRS repackaged 100 drums for the day.  
  
START assisted the EPA as needed and conducted written/photographic documentation.


Next Steps

Lavigne Manufacturing is making plans to remove its material off site.

EPA will continue to coordinate with magnesium waste generators for the safe and appropriate removal of the material from the site.  EPA will continue to coordinate with all local, state, and federal agencies.
