10/14/08 Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental Services, Inc. held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS loaded reacted lime waste material into roll-off boxes. The material was hauled to the BFI Carbon Limestone Landfill located in Lowellville, Ohio. It was transported by John Brown Trucking Co. Four loads weighing approximately twenty-two tons each were hauled offsite today. ERRS took one drum from each grouping of magnesium drums located in building 2, and opened it to be used as a representation of the particular lot it was grouped in. The drums are separated into groupings according to PRP generator and the various stages of processing they were found to be in when they were repackaged by ERRS. (i.e. powder, shavings, chips, etc.).The drums are scheduled to be examined by contractors bidding for the opportunity to assist EPA in the offsite disposal/recycling of the drums. START mobilized to the site and provided the OSC with technical and administrative assistance, conducted contractor monitoring, drum inspection, disposal tracking and written and photographic documentation.
