In February of 2005, a meth lab was discovered on a property in Smyrna, Georgia. Due to the size and magnitude of this meth lab, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was contacted by officials from Cobb County government about performing an environmental investigation on the soils of the yard of that property.
On March 16, 2005, EPA mobilized to the site to take surface and sub-surface samples from the back yard of the Meth Lab residence. A total of six surface soil and two sub-surface soil samples were taken from the property. All of the samples were collected from the back yard of the property and analyzed. The analysis did not detect any contaminants above levels of concern or that are thought to be attributable to past site activities.
Based on the observations made during the sampling event and the analytical results, no further EPA activity at the property is anticipated.
