Pollution Report (POLREP) #4
Site Description
The 127 TELEGRAPH ROAD SITE, aka."ACE DRUM" located in Chickasaw, Alabama was used to house a wide assortment of Industrial grade paints, solvents and other unknowns.

Hundreds of 1 and 5 gallon buckets of paint and other volatile materials and numerous drums of waste oil were improperly store, leaking their flammable contents due to exposure to the elements, and physical deterioration of their metal and plastic containers.

Analytical results derived form the Removal Assessment revealed the presence of elevated levels of organics, including: Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes and Isopropylbenzene. These listed substances pose a significant threat to public health and the environment.

Current Activities
During this reporting period, two primary activities have been conducted. On November 29, 2006, START collected 5 ea. surficial soil samples (0-12" bls) and 1 ea. subsurface 12-24" bls) soil sample by stainless steel hand auger in 5 areas of suspected contamination and from one area not suspected of conatmination.  Sample GPS coordinates were recorded in the feield logbook and a photograph was taken at each sample location.  Samples were submitted the same day to CLP laboratories for anaylsis of volities, semi-volitiles, pesticides, PCB's and metal by EPA-CLP methods.  Results of the soil analysis are aniticpated for December 20, 2006.

On 12/04/06, EPA OSC, ERRS along with START and the selected (EQ Environmental)waste broker, met at the Site to load out drummed waste and cubic yard boxes.
