Current Activities
Between September 24 and October 3, U.S. EPA completed transportation and disposal of contaminated soil, and site restoration.

The lead contaminated soil failed Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) for lead and was shipped to EQ/MD in Belleville, Michigan as a hazardous waste.  The arsenic contaminated soil passed TCLP and was shipped to Delta Landfill as nonhazardous.

As noted previously, U.S. EPA initiated and completed the excavation of Areas 1 and 2 to remove direct contact threats.  Approximately 1,000 yards were removed.

Planned Removal Actions
None

Key Issues
U.S. EPA's emergency response addressed the direct contact threat.  Additional investigations may be needed to determine if lead continues under the stamp sand's cover as well as below Torch Lake sediments.
