Please refer to Polrep 3 for background information.

Current Activities
During the reporting period, activities at 989 Loflin Hill Road, Lot 23 included load out of contaminated soil, placement of backfill and topsoil and landscaping.  To date, 23 loads of backfill and 19 loads of topsoil have been placed on the property.  Nineteen loads of contaminated soil have been sent to the Uwharrie Environmental Landfill in Mt. Planned Removal Actions
The Removal Action at the 8* affected residences will involve a combination of excavation and capping with a barrier of clean soil of up to 2 feet and restoration.  Residents will be relocated while activities are conducted at their residence.
*Results of the August 2004 sampling event identified two properties with arsenic levels above the Removal Action Level of 40 ppm; results of samples collected in February 2005 identified one additional property with arsenic levels above the RAL.

Next Steps
The next steps at 964 Loflin Hill Road, Lot 55 include further excavation, backfill, grading and landscaping.
Many of the areas previously seeded will be re-addressed and all of the properties will be evaluated to determine if any additional work is needed before the crew demobilizes from the Site.

Key Issues
Site work was canceled on Monday, February 28, 2005 due to rain.
The Removal Action at the Site is expected to be completed within the next two weeks; many of the lawns are still trying to establish grass and will have to be monitored periodically after demobilization.
