Segment 3 (OU 12) is the third of seven segments in the Tittabawassee River at the Tittabawassee River, Saginaw River & Bay site. The Tittabawassee River, Saginaw River & Bay site starts at the Tittabawassee and Chippewa confluence, in Midland, MI. Segment 3 begins approximately 7.2 miles downstream of the confluence with the Chippewa River, extending approximately 4.2 miles. Removal work occurs at particular areas within the Site designated as Sediment Management Areas (SMAs) and Bank Management Areas (BMAs). The SMAs and BMAs contain elevated levels of dioxins (primarily furans).
