While abandoning an old gathering system, Enbridge and their contractor discovered an historic leak. While originally thought to be on land owned by the Turtle Mountain Tribe, the site is on a privately held allotment near the Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge and close to a small creek that feeds the wildlife refuge.

Subsequent investigation on the site revealed a previously unknown and improperly abandoned line. Further assessment revealed a possible owner of the line.

At the OSC's request, Enbridge will be conducting abandonment work of the previously unknown line this summer.
