2. Current Activities
  2.1 Operations Section
   

2.1.1 Narrative
Restoration operations are ongoing in BRSAs 6, 7, 8 & 9. Demobilization activities continue.

2.1.2 Response Actions During Reporting Period

BRSA 6
- Continued restoration of construction entrance & staging area.

BRSA 7
- Continued restoration of riverbanks with seed, straw and native trees/plants;
- Continued re-grading and restoration of staging area;
- Demobilized remaining office trailers and associated infrastructure (i.e., utilities);
- Removed stream tube protection measures; and 
- Emptied, cleaned and demobilized temporary wastewater storage tanks.

BRSA 8
- Continued stabilization of access road; and
- Continued restoration of riverbanks with seed, straw and native trees/plants.

OVERALL SITE
- Continued operation & maintenance of surface water run-off and erosion control measures;
- Continued irrigation of native plants/grasses in all completed BRSAs; and
- Continued restoration activities (grading, contouring, seeding, straw, planting) of area at former dam location (see photo).

2.2.1 Anticipated Activities
During the next reporting period, the following activities are expected to occur:

BRSA 6
- Complete restoration of staging area; and
- Complete restoration of entrance to staging area off of 19th Street.

BRSA 7
- Restore former command center and staging area.

BRSA 8
- Complete stabilization and re-grading of access road along river banks; and
- Complete restoration plantings on river banks.

SITEWIDE
- Complete construction of irrigation system for native trees/plants/grasses in restored areas;
- Continue operation of irrigation system in all restored areas; and
- Continue restoration of area surrounding the former temporary WCS and auxiliary spillway.

2.2.1.2 Administrative Activities / Next Steps
- A meeting of project managers, consultants, contractors and PRPs was held on July 18. The purpose of the meeting was to debrief on the project, identify lessons learned, and suggest improvements for future phases of the cleanup (see photo). A tour was conducted of the site to view the progress (see photo).

2.5.1 Safety Officer

A safety meeting is held prior to work start each day by on-site safety officer(s) from Envirocon & Wood Group. Site surveillance continues during weekends to discourage trespassing into work areas and restored riverbank areas. The main purpose of the surveillance patrols is public safety.

2.5.2 Liaison Officer
- A tour was held for agency representatives from MDNR, MDEQ, US EPA and a few local residents on July 17.
- Additional tours with agency executives, elected officials, and non-profit organizations are anticipated over the next month as the project is near completion.

2.5.3 Information Officer
- An updated Fact Sheet is being prepared for distribution prior to a final community meeting (to be announced).
