2. Current Activities
  2.1 Operations Section
    The following actions took place during this reporting period:
  • ERRS continued to demolish the ASTs and tanker trailers onsite.  During this reporting period, 12 ASTs, 3 tanker trailers, and one box trailer were demolished for a total of 19 tons of steel and 1.9 tons of aluminum scrapped. 
  • ERRS also continued to mix the remianing sludges onsite with the cotton tash.  65,845 gallons of sludges were solidified accounting for 21 loads of material shipped off-site.. 
  • START continued to monitor the air in the vicinity of the tanks and prepare samples for disposal of the solidified materials.
  • No work took place on site on 1/10/11 due to heavy snow and ice.  Work resumed on 1/11/11.

    2.2.1 Anticipated Activities

    2.2.1.1 Planned Response Activities

During the next reporting period ERRS the following activities are planned:

  • ERRS will solidify and dispose of any remaining sludges onsite;
  • Recyclable materials (tires, steel, aluminum, etc.) will continue to be removed from site;
  • START will conduct soil sampling in probable impacted areas to determine the need for any soil removal;
  • If needed, ERRS will conduct soil removal;
  • ERRS will conduct site restoration activities such as removing impacted concrete, pressure washing impacted surfaces, and grading.

    2.2.1.2 Next Steps

   Beyond the tasks listed above, the installation of a Site monitoring well may be completed if deemed appropriate.
